Hotel Price Match Programs

Did you know that all major hotel chains guarantee you’ll find the lowest room rate on their website or they will match or beat the price found elsewhere?

Best Rate Guarantee:

To compete with online travel sites, most hotels have a best rate guarantee, stating that the hotel direct website has the lowest room rate.  If found to not be the lowest, the hotel will match or beat the rate found elsewhere.

Major Hotel Chains: 

1. Hilton:  Hilton’s Price Match Guarantee states that if you find a lower rate online, they’ll honor the lower price AND give a 25% discount on your stay.
2. IHG:  IHG’s Best Price Guarantee will match the lower competitor’s rate and then give you 5x the IHG Rewards Club points, up to 40,000 points. 
3. Hyatt:  If you find a cheaper rate other than Hyatt’s official site, Hyatt’s Best Rate Guarantee will match the rate and either give you an additional 20% discount or 5,000 World of Hyatt bonus points.
4. Marriott: Like Hyatt, Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee program gives you a choice.  Find a lower rate than an official Marriott reservation channel and Marriott will match the rate and give either a 25% discount on the room or 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

 Be sure the room type, travel dates, and cancellation policy are the same to ensure your claim is approved.  Lastly, make sure your price match claim is submitted within 24 hours of booking. 

Tip:  Always book cancelable rates.  Be patient, take screenshots, submit your claim and when in doubt, call the hotel.  Good luck!
